Final Treatment

Final treatment

A lonely Anne is always being bullied by the fearful Amy who is constantly telling Anne that she will never find the love of her life due to her looks. Amy’s bullying makes Anne insecure leading to her to become worried that Amy is right. Anne’s insecurity leads her to make some important decisions in order to find her true love. After numerous ideas of trying to find her true love that won’t judge her on her looks, Anne edecides to join an online dating website. Anne isn’t aware of her superior intelligence and her incredible personality that she decides to use a fake image of a beautiful woman instead of her own. Anne discovers a boy called Max, who has made a fake account as a joke. Anne gradually gets to know more about Max and has taken a liking to him. After lengthy conversations with Max, sharing similarities and learning more about Max’s life Anne believe Max is the perfect one. Anne has lost her confidence because of her looks due to Amy. Will Anne be able to face her true love? Anne soon discovers that Max goes to the same school as her making her even more insecure than she already is. Max can’t wait meet Anne but she is terrified to confront Max. Anne and Max arrange a day to meet up and spend time together however Anne plans to meet Max as the girl on her profile image rather than herself. Anne’s friends help her with this extremely crazy makeover so Anne will look like the girl in the picture and to ensure Anne will come across as this beautiful girl. Max and Anne plan to meet at the train station so they can meet for the first time and spend the day in each other’s company by going shopping, and hopefully a fun time with each other. Anne and Max both meet at the station and are both shocked by each other’s appearance, especially Ann. Anne’s day doesn’t go off to  a great start as various and unfortunate things happen to her disguise. When Anne’s enters the shop she sneezes and when she looks in the mirror she realises her fake nose has come off. Anne begins to panic and becomes anxious and nervous as she is afraid her identity will be revealed. Anne frantically searches the shop to the find her fake nose and she finally finds it under the shelf. Anne quickly applies her fake nose and continues her day with Max. Anne and Max spend the rest of the day together and have a wonderful time. Anne and Max begin to spend more time together at school and her inseparable. Amy gets involved and begins to wonder who this girl is and she tries her best to get to the bottom of it. As the days go Ann efinds it hard to keep her secret and can’t bear to hold it in any longer. Anne’s night at home leaver her thinking if she should tell Max the truth. There is a knock on the door and Anne runs downstairs and opens the door to find her brother and Max at the door. Anne is shocked and slams the door shut. Ann opens the door again and apologises to her brother and his friend. What will Anne do now?

This was chosen as my final idea because a female audience would be attracted to the story line that features an emotional relationship between the characters. Also the comedy element of this character being clumsy and not hiding herself very well in front of others creates compassion for her because we don’t want her to get noticed. The troubles of relationships are typical of romcom’s because the female protagonists struggle to find love. Also in romcom’s the female usually struggles to find love because of an obstacle that is stopping her. In this final treatment the bully is stopping Ann from fulfilling her dreams. Also this idea has an interesting twist that will ensure the target audience will be attracted to. The idea of featuring a serious topic such as bullying will create sympathy for the character meaning the target audience want to discover how this problem is dealt with. Also this idea features the code and convention of having the male protagonist as attractive and the one all the females want to be with. This will intrigue the target audience by featuring an attracting character that will appeal to females more. This idea also follow the codes and conventions of a light hearted, love inspired plot where the male and female protagonists are at this stage where they are so caught up with each and they are on each others minds. This will attract the target audience because females will adore this sweet romance that the characters have. The target audience of females will be emotionally connected to the story line that they may have been in the characters position before.
